The question of Cisco route-map

Published on by dellpe

Question:

got this example from Sir Wendell's CCNP book.

ip prefix-list manufacturing seq 5 permit 10.17.35.0/24 ge 25 le 25

route-map filter-man-slash30 deny 8

match ip address prefix-list manufacturing

??-means match the first 3 octets 10.17.35 to be filtered with the /25 prefix length?

??-the deny clause on the route-map command means that it will only filter the ip prefix-list and not really denied it right?

ip prefix-list manufacturing seq 10 permit 10.17.36.0/24 ge 26 le 26

route-map filter-man-slash30 deny 8

match ip address prefix-list manufacturing

??-means match first 3 octets 10.17.36 to be filtered with the /26 prefix length?

??-the deny clause on the route-map command means that it will only filter the ip prefix-list and not really denied it right?

ip prefix-list slash30 seq 5 permit 0.0.0.0/0 ge 30 le 30

route-map filter-man-slash30 deny 15

match ip address prefix-list slash30

??-means that all routes with /30 prefix length will be filtered?

??-the deny clause on the route-map command means that it will only filter the ip prefix-list and not really denied it right?

route-map filter-man-slash30 permit 23

-means that allow all the routes

Answer:

  • If you use an ACL in a route-map permit clause, routes that are permitted by the ACL are redistributed.
  • If you use an ACL in a route-map deny clause, routes that are permitted by the ACL are not redistributed.
  • If you use an ACL in a route-map permit or deny clause, and the ACL denies a route, then the route-map clause match is not found and the next route-map clause is evaluated.
